Who doesn't love food? We had a great potluck today, the best end to a successful session and the best beginning to break week. We hope everyone enjoys their time off, and we're looking forward to next session with you!

Final Exams

Our final exams have begun! Today, we are testing how much our students have learned about reading and writing in English. We can't wait to read the great essays and see the progress everyone has made!

Another successful session is coming to an end this week! We're looking forward to Friday's potluck and a week long break to enjoy this beautiful Spring weather we've been having!

Laser Tag

We were able to go play Laser Tag at UltraZone in Madison yesterday. We had a super fun time running around and trying to get the most points by tagging each other. The first game, Green team won against Purple team; the second game, Team Latino won against Team USA and Team Asia. We can't wait to go again!

Why is learning English important?

We all wonder whether or not learning another language will really be helpful. We often think about the long hours we will have to spend trying to learn vocabulary and grammar rules, the hours of practice to get pronunciation right, and the time dedicated to reading news articles and books in our chosen second language. But often we do not think about the positive benefits of learning a second language, apart from the potential of getting a new job that needs that language skill.

Learning a second language can open many doors for us to better understand the world and the many other cultures within it. We become much more creative by using different parts of our brains to understand the new words and sounds of a new language. And we open the door to learn a third or maybe even a fourth language!

There are so many positive benefits from learning another language, we could spend days describing each and every one in detail, but the writers and teachers at ESL Partyland have already done that. We had a great potluck today! Many of our students brought home-cooked dishes to share some of their culture, and we were able to send Kelley off properly with a full belly of delicious food. We wish her the very best in her next adventures, and we are so grateful for everything she has done for MESLS and our students. Thank you, Kelley!

 

Easter has arrived!

The Easter Bunny hopped by early today and left goodies all over. He gave us baskets of tasty candy to share with all of the students! Come by the front desk to get some delicious Easter treats!
