Thanksgiving Cooking Class

Wednesday, November 20th, a small group of MESLS students went to Whole Foods for a Thanksgiving cooking class of epic proportions. We learned to make all of the signature Thanksgiving dishes.

Ticket Winners!

Tuesday, November 19th, Give and Nafa won our green ticket drawing! Congratulations.
When teachers see students engaging in English conversation outside of class, they give them a green ticket.
Two times each session, we draw two green tickets and the winners win... Target gift cards!

school and degree programs.

Saturday, November 16th, MESLS students braved the drizzly weather to see an astonishing Badger victory!

Free Football Class

Wednesday, November 13th, MESLS teacher, Lauren, and International Student Advisor, Kelley, led a class
on American Football. They explained the rules, key vocabulary words, and Madison traditions.

A small group of students are going to the Badger Football game on Saturday, November 16th.
We cannot wait to hear what they think of Madison traditions!

NEW SPEAKING CLASS!

Wednesday, November 6th, MESLS introduced Speaking Class. Since then, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, Lauren, one of MESLS' teachers, offers a class designed to get MESLS students of all English abilities together
speaking English.

MESLS' core curriciulum is made up for three components:

Speaking & Listening
Reading & Writing
Speaking & Grammar

Speaking Class is an additional opportunity for students to increase their accuracy, confidence and fluency in spoken
English.

Halloween at MESLS!

Thursday, October 31st, ghouls and goblins invaded MESLS!  After lunch, we held a costume contest and pumpkin
carving activity. Students enjoyed roasted pumpkin seeds and of course, a bit of American Halloween candy.

Welcome Party (October/December Session)

Monday, October 28th, during MESLS' Welcome Party, Bo Young was awarded a $100 check for receiving all As last session!  Congratulations and keep up the great work!
Ahmed and Noha were our green ticket winners, both receiving Target gift cards for always speaking English
at MESLS!  Way to set a good example.

A new session begins

Thursday, October 24th was the first day of a brand new session. With placement testing and orientation behind
them, the new MESLS students had a blast going downtown and discovering State Street.

Haunted Forest

Friday, October 11th, MESLS students went to the Schuster's Playtime Farm to experience
Wisconsin autumn at its best. We made our way through the infamous corn maze and were positively
frightened by the ghouls in the Haunted Forest before relaxing by the campfire with
